Psyllid Aerial Spray Program
The Indian River Psyllid Aerial Spray Program for the 2009/10 season has concluded with two sprays, one in October and a second spray in March. Thus far the data on the program is inconclusive due to a partial application in October. The program has expanded dramatically in the second application from 22,000 acres to 44,000 acres. Also there has been a label change for Mustang, which will allow better coverage at a lower rate for grower members. Data is still being collected from the March application and results will be presented at a League Production Committee meeting on June 2, at 10 a.m. Plans are already being drawn up for the 2010/11 season with a first application in September of Malathion 5 and a follow up application in January 2011 of Mustang. The program is also considering going to tap samples only versus sticky traps to save money for growers and the program.
