Science and Research

Indian River Research and Education Center (IRREC) :
The Indian River Research and Education Center conducts scientific research and holds information and education seminars about growing citrus in Florida.

Citrus Research and Development Foundation :

Citrus trees and crops face serious threats from infectious diseases, especially citrus greening or huanglongbing (HLB). This disease reduces production and destroys the economic value of fruit. The spread and cause of HLB are associated with a phloem-feeding insect (Asian citrus psyllid (ACP), Diapharina citri) and a fastidious bacterium (Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus). The Citrus Advanced Technology Program (CATP) was established to search internationally for solutions to HLB, citrus canker and other diseases through sponsored research.

The Citrus Research and Education Center is world’s largest citrus research organization.

United States Department of Agriculture :
The United States Department of Agriculture is the main organization in the United States dedicated to food production.

Division of Plant Industry: Florida Department of Agriculture :
The Division of Plant Industry is a regulatory body dedicated to helping growers protect and safely produce agricultural products in Florida.

South Florida Water Management District :
The South Florida Water Management District is one of five water management districts created in 1972 by the Florida Legislature. They help protect Florida’s water resources.
